Saurashtra is not just a region on the map — it is a cradle of civilization, commerce, culture, courage, and dharma. From the ancient ports of Porbandar and Bhavnagar to the spiritual centers of Somnath, Palitana, Gadhda, and Jetpur, Saurashtra has been home to visionary saints, mighty kings, devoted traders, and resilient communities for thousands of years.
But today, many of its stories, sites, rituals, and values are at risk of being forgotten — unless we act now.

The Purpose of VSAMP

VSAMP (Vaishvik Saurashtra Association for Mahimavan Sanskriti & Poorn Pragati) is a global initiative by Sakar Trust that aims to:
Document and preserve temples, oral traditions, heritage sites, royal family legacies, and local stories from across Saurashtra
Create digital platforms to connect global Saurashtrians with their roots
Empower youth with leadership opportunities through heritage, media, and spirituality
Promote tourism, cultural pride, and community-driven progress
Support rural talents, artisans, storytellers, and historians

Why This Matters

This project directly addresses the growing disconnect many young Saurashtrians feel from their ancestral identity, values, and villages. It creates:

digital archive for families to access heritage from anywhere in the world

A platform for villages and temples to be recognized, supported, and visited

A way to pass on living wisdom from elders to youth

Opportunities for creative collaboration through stories, video, research, and cultural events

A sense of unity for Saurashtrians worldwide — rooted in shared pride and purpose
